PSP 7-9: Creating Text as Shapes - Using Geometric Distortion Effects
Next, crop the image so that there is only a small amount of blue beneath the rectangle. To do this:
- Select the Crop tool,
,
from the Tools palette. - Click in the top left-hand corner of the image and drag a rectangle to enclose the part of the image you want to retain. The result should look something like the following:
- Double-click the left mouse button inside the selection rectangle to crop the image to the size of the rectangle.
Finally, apply a circular distortion to the image. Remember that this will only be applied to the layer with text and rectangle if the Raster 2 layer is selected.
- Click Effects > Geometric Effects > Circle to display the Circle dialog box.
- Select Transparent Edge mode and click OK to close the dialog box and apply the deformation to the Raster 2 layer.
This image can be cropped or left as is, as you wish. You are still left with two layers. If you want your logo to keep its background colour, these layers must be merged:
- Click Layers > Merge > Merge All (Flatten).
Variations:
I prefer the effect with some capitals within the text, as in the KaSaB logo, or all capitals.
You could also use text that only has a stroke to give the effect of hollow letters, or change background colour, or font of the text.
